MaidSafe Introduction
Previously recognised as the Town Centre Security Group, the Partnership has reformed to take advantage of current practice and forge ahead in reducing crime.
The Partnership is now a cross representative body with a formal constitution, a Steering Group and Management Team.
The intention is to work towards being in the best position to make Maidstone a safer place. In achieving this the Partnership has been recognised with the British Retail Consortium’s National Safer Shopping Award, has employed an Intelligence Manager and purchased the Business Information Crime System (BICS).
This system is the vehicle for sharing information, including photographs of known and suspected criminals across the towns of Kent and the South East, undoubtedly putting Maidstone at the forefront of crime reduction partnerships with very real and tangible benefits.

couldn’t be simpler. By joining and accepting the terms of
membership you will be entitled to all benefits of the partnership.
The MaidSafe Steering Group is made up of Town Centre management, CCTV, Police and the Intelligence Manager and selected members representing traders.
The Maidstone Partnership has followed guidelines set out by the Home Office, and has a cross representative steering group and a committed management team working under the auspices of Maidstone Town Centre Management.
Counted among members of MaidSafe are some of the very biggest High Street names as well as many other speciality shops that make Maidstone a unique shopping destination. The growing membership of MaidSafe is testament to the success of the scheme and a clear recommendation to businesses considering joining.
Following the success of the Storenet two way radio link, which is primarily of benefit to the daytime retail and business community, a second scheme has been launched to cater for the town’s growing night time economy. Nitenet is a dedicated service for the many pubs, clubs and restaurants in Maidstone, and offers the same membership benefits as Storenet.
A key partner in the MaidSafe Partnership is Maidstone Borough Council’s CCTV system. A first class system offering a first class service the CCTV coverage of Maidstone town centre is a major tool in the town’s fight against crime. The CCTV operators work very closely with the town centre policing unit to ensure a rapid response to any incident.
Much of the success in making Maidstone a safe town in which to shop and work in, is thanks to the commitment of the local partnership in making town centre policing a priority.
MaidSafe also employs its own full-time Intelligence Manager to offer support and training to members of the scheme. The Intelligence Manager ensures the flow of information on local crime and known criminals is both relevant and up to date, through news letters, formal monthly meetings and day-to-day contact with members.
