Make it Maidstone - Make it Green
Town Centre Management (TCM) is holding its fourth green week, Make
it Maidstone – Make it Green, from Monday, August 19th to Friday,
August 19, as part of its ongoing commitment to make the County Town
the most environmentally aware in Kent and beyond.

‘Greenness’ is an issue that continues to be very important to us in all aspects of our lives, at home and in business;
due to its ever evolving nature it can be difficult to keep abreast of the latest developments and methodologies, so
with this in mind Maidstone Town Centre Management is bringing a fourth annual Green Week event to The Mall
Chequers from 15-19 August 2011.
This year’s event is being supported by the following organisations: South East Water featuring Sally Shower, KCC with Kentjourneyshare and the Streetcar scheme, Mobility Management and Maidstone Borough Council will be showcasing their Love Food Hate Waste and composting schemes and will be running a public consultation exercise to assist with the development of a cycle strategy for Maidstone.
Fun activities for children will be available from Monday through to Wednesday. For example you can make a cute
pig to keep from household items that would normally be thrown away or recycled. On Thursday and Friday you
can learn how to make your own plant pot from jam and tea! Fill your pot with compost supplied by Maidstone
Borough Council and watch your plant grow. TGreen Week will be informative and fun and will show us all how to be a little greener in everyday life.
Make It Maidstone – Make It Green.
Town centre manager Bill Moss said “We are encouraging people and businesses to
work together to make Maidstone as environmentally friendly as possible and in
so doing to make our town a better place to live and work in.
“We hope to get the message across that going green can be very easy and fun and
can save you money. It’s surprising what a difference just a few changes to your
lifestyle can make.”
